Bookkeeping Service Houston Why the tenth has ten days

Those ten days after the month ends are the window Steven Palmieri, a Tax CFO, uses to match the bank and to get the questions answered.

What the ten days are for

Banks post the last items of a month a few days after the month ends. Waiting those days keeps us from closing on a balance that is about to move. The tenth is the day we aim to be done, not the day the bank finishes.

Inside those ten days we match deposits, we pull out the tax that was collected, and we write the questions that a statement would otherwise hide. A close that skips the questions is a printout.

If a deposit from the last day lands on the third, it still belongs in the month the customer paid. The ten days give that deposit a place to land before we call the month finished.

Hold the tenth

When the tenth slips

A holiday, a missing statement, or a payroll run that has not posted can push the close past the tenth. We say so before the day arrives. We do not pretend the month closed because the calendar page turned.

The rhythm is the point of a service. A one time cleanup can start the rhythm. It does not replace it. After the old months are finished, the tenth is the ordinary day.

A Texas note

Montrose, which people also call Neartown, sits between Allen Parkway and the freeway to the south. Every Texan who has spent an evening there knows the blocks change by the week. We still want the shop on those blocks to know which month is closed before the next weekend's deposits arrive.

Ask about timing

Send the timing

Say whether last month closed on the tenth or whether it is still open.

You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
